Arizona has very uneven abortion service availability by county. As of late 2023, only two counties (Maricopa and Pima) have any in-county abortion clinics, while the other 13 counties have none. There are only about 8 clinics statewide offering abortions – 6 in Maricopa County and 2 in Pima County.

This means over 80% of Arizona counties lack an abortion provider.

High Access – Maricopa County (Phoenix metro):
Maricopa is the state’s main hub for abortion care, with multiple clinics including independent providers (like Camelback Family Planning and Desert Star) and several Planned Parenthood locations. Most services in Arizona are concentrated here.
Moderate Access – Pima County (Tucson area):
Tucson has about two clinics offering abortion—one Planned Parenthood and one independent provider. Services are available but limited, and patients may face wait times or have to travel if local options are full.
Low Access – All Other 13 Counties:
These counties have no abortion clinics. Residents must travel—often long distances—to Phoenix, Tucson, or out of state. The lack of providers creates major access barriers, especially for low-income or rural populations.

High Access – Maricopa County (Phoenix metro):
Maricopa is Arizona’s primary hub for abortion services, with multiple clinics including independent providers (e.g., Camelback, Desert Star, Acacia) and several Planned Parenthood sites.
Moderate Access – Pima County (Tucson area):
Tucson has about two clinics—one Planned Parenthood and one independent (e.g., Choices Women’s Center). Services are limited, with fewer options than Maricopa. The largest clinic provides care up to ~15 weeks, and residents may face delays or need to travel for timely appointments.
Low Access – All Other 13 Counties:
No abortion clinics operate in the rest of the state. Patients in these counties must travel to Phoenix, Tucson, or out of state for care. Coconino (Flagstaff) previously had a provider but hasn’t resumed services post-Dobbs. Counties like Yavapai, Mohave, Navajo, and others have no in-county providers, highlighting the stark geographic and financial barriers to access. In 2022, 6 of 7 Arizona clinics were in Maricopa, with only 1 in Pima.
